Stockholm Syndrome, (2022)

Stockholm Syndrome, (2022)

“Stockholm Syndrome” is a series of digital collages that delves into the intricate relationship between humans and technology. The term originated as a coping mechanism observed in captive or abusive situations, where individuals develop positive feelings toward their captors or abusers over time.

In this collection, I channel this concept to draw attention to the profound and often unconscious relationships we’ve forged with technology—both physically and emotionally. These platforms, initially intended for connection and communication, have the power to ‘hijack’ our emotions.

In an age where technology was meant to make our lives easier, “Stockholm Syndrome” underscores the unintended consequences, where it has sometimes made our lives more challenging.

Through this series, I invite viewers to consider the complex bonds we’ve formed with our digital captors, encouraging contemplation about the impact of technology on our lives, relationships, and sense of self.
