Weight Watching (2023)
Weight Watching (2023)
“Weight Watching” is an installation that defies the conventional boundaries of scales and their purpose. This circle of scales, intentionally uncalibrated, invites you to step into a world where weight takes on new dimensions, perceptions are skewed, and emotions ripple through this interactive installation.
The circular arrangement of these scales draws you in, challenging the preconceptions about measurements and judgments. Here, I beckon the viewer to confront the complexities surrounding body image and societal expectations. The scales, deliberately unbalanced, release the tension of their weight, symbolizing the tumultuous emotions we often attach to numbers. In this piece, I invite you to question the significance of these measurements in our lives and their impact on self-esteem and well-being.
“Weight Watching” encourages empathy and understanding, sparking a dialogue about self-acceptance and body positivity; it prompts you to confront the perils of societal judgments and the internal battles we wage against them.
Through “Weight Watching,” I aspire to foster a more compassionate and open discourse that embraces the diversity of our emotions and the profound connection between our bodies and the world around us. “Weight Watching” beckons the viewer to play with the scales and let go of societal pressures, reminding us of the beauty of embracing our authentic selves.
